The Hidden Assumption

Up to this point, something has been happening:
Beliefs have been questioned. Meanings have shifted. Identity has loosened.
Everything that once seemed stable no longer holds in quite the same way.
This process feels thorough.
Relentless.
Nothing appears to escape it.
But something has gone unnoticed.
βΈ»
All of this has been examined.
Taken apart. Reconsidered.
And yet, one assumption remains.
It has been present the entire time.
So constant that it does not stand out.
βΈ»
Everything is unstable.
Everything can be questioned.
Everything can be dismantled.
But this is all being observed:
The thoughts. The uncertainty. The shifting meanings.
They are known.
This seems obvious.
So obvious that it is easy to overlook.
The focus has been on what is seen.
Not on what sees.
βΈ»
So a question begins to form.
Not about belief.
Not about meaning.
Not about identity.
Something more direct.
All of this instability is being noticed.
What is it that notices it?
There is no need to answer.
Not yet.
