If Truth Can Be Automated, What Was the Teacher For?

A machine can now explain the highest teachings.

It can describe nonduality. It can dismantle the sense of self. It can point, again and again, to what is always present.

So a question naturally arises:

If truth can be automated, what was the teacher for?

Was the teacher simply a source of information?

A better explanation? A clearer system? A more refined philosophy?

⸻

If so, then the machine has already replaced him.

It is faster. More consistent. Available at any time.

⸻

But something feels off in that conclusion.

⸻

Because the role of the teacher was never just to provide content.

⸻

The teacher did something far more disruptive.

He did not give you something new.

He removed what you were relying on.

⸻

He did not simply explain the truth.

He confronted the one who believed he needed explanation.

⸻

This cannot be automated so easily.

Because it is not a transfer of knowledge.

It is a collapse of position.

⸻

A real teacher does not leave you with better answers.

He leaves you without the need for them.

⸻

This is why presence mattered.

Not as a mystical aura, but as a direct challenge.

You could not hide in concepts. You could not stabilize yourself in ideas.

Every attempt to “understand” was exposed.

⸻

A machine, however refined, does not do this in the same way.

It can respond. It can point. It can clarify.

But it does not stand in front of you.

It does not see you trying to escape into thought.

It does not interrupt you at the exact moment you begin to retreat.

So the function of the teacher becomes clearer.

⸻

Not to deliver truth.

But to make illusion unstable.

⸻

And yet—

even this must be understood carefully.

⸻

Because in the end, no one can do this for you.

⸻

The scriptures point. The teacher points. The machine points.

⸻

But the seeing is always your own.

⸻

In my opinion, this is what remains:

If you are only collecting explanations, then a machine is enough.

⸻

If you are ready to see, then anything is enough.

⸻

Because the final step was never in the words.

⸻

The teacher was not the source of truth; he was the end of your dependence on sources.
